A 33 year old male who was recovering after cholecystectomy presented a sudden onset of breathing difficulty and rashes all over the body with inj. Andtron (Ondansetron -4mg). The condition progressed to cardio pulmonary arrest, which was fortunately resuscitated successfully. Ondansetron is a highly potent antiemetic drug that is effective in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting with very low risk of adverse reactions. We are reporting a reaction that is probably due to an allergy to serotonin blockers (Ondansetron, Granisetron). The patient recovered on discontinuing the drug and with appropriate teartment.
